How does a Retreat Center Schedule an IRL Leader? |
|
Simply contact the IRL Executive Director, Patrick Cleary-Burns, by email or by phone (216-288-1687) and indicate the program and leader you are interested in bringing to your center, and the desired date. Because this is not the primary ministry for the retreat leaders, it is best if you contact Pat at least six months before the desired date.

Itinerant Retreat Leaders is developing a new form of partnership with retreat centers across the United States.
Partners in Programming
Many retreat centers are struggling to provide a broad spectrum of programs in the current economic climate. IRL’s networking will make it possible for centers to invite new groups of retreatants for superior programs. This will enable the centers to serve a population they care about and to build their own foundation of supportive retreatants.
Partners in Outreach and Marketing
IRL is building relationships with the groups that the retreat programs are designed to serve. The retreat center and IRL will work together to invite these groups to participate in the IRL retreat programs at the center. Joint efforts will include e-newsletters, feature stories and links on each other’s web sites, and personal outreach to a variety of churches and organizations the region served by the retreat center. IRL’s Partner Organizations will also alert their communities to upcoming retreats.
Member Retreat Houses
I
RL will invite all participating retreat centers to become Members of IRL. Members will make a $100 annual contribution to IRL. In return, members will receive the first notices of available retreat leaders and the opportunity to participate in IRL’s annual on-line auction.
Cooperative Fundraising
A unique aspect of the partnership between IRL and retreat center will be its element of cooperative fundraising. This will be carried out in at least two ways.
The first area of cooperation will be the on-line auction. Each member retreat house will have the option to place up to five items in the auction. The auction listing for each of those items will include a link to the website of the donor retreat center. The retreat center will get 50% of the proceeds from each item they donate to the auction.
The second area will be cooperative grant writing for series of retreats at a retreat center or group of centers.
