The Deployment Ministry
All too many veterans are returning home today with grievous physical and psychological wounds. The families and loved ones who are caring for them are facing daunting challenges and unrelenting stress. All too often they live in isolation form others who share their experience. IRL is seeking leaders and partners who can help families and caregivers develop coping skills and build a spiritually supportive community.
Those facing dramatic changes in life
Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, unexpected job loss, foreclosure, death of a parent or spouse, and the death of a child are all changes that utterly disrupt life. The people who go through such traumas all too often feel isolated and abandoned. IRL has recruited two retreat leaders who have experience ministering with families and individuals who have suffered the modern traumas of sudden and dramatic change.
Those seeking a new simplicity, a spirituality of enough
Our nation has come through decades of excess and into a time of significant lowering of financial expectations. Many people have been struggling for years to find a balanced lifestyle that is biblically based. IRL has recruited two wonderful retreat leaders who are preparing retreats that will be a catalyst for growth into a newly balanced view of enough.
A Sabbath of Renewal for ministers, caregivers and parents
When the winds howl, the waters rise or the snow piles grow into mountains who can we count on? Why our ministers, nurses, doctors, police, fire fighters, and other caregivers. We all too often forget that they have also had their roof blown off, their basement flooded or their car snowed in. When do they get a break? When do working parents who are caring for children and their parents ever find time to breathe? How do we give them a time to retreat that is nourishing and recuperative? IRL will design retreats that are an oasis for those whose lives are devoted to caring for the rest of us.
